DUI Arrest
They let me out of jail about eight o’clock a.m. The sun was still chasing the fog out of the foothills as I climbed aboard the Gold Coast bus to get home. I had been sober last night—sober enough to know I was being arrested for DUI in Oxnard. I would learn that it could have been Camarillo, or Ojai, or Ventura, or any one of a number of city cogs in the county wheel.

I searched my pockets for clues to where they took my truck. A pink sheet of paper told me I had ten days to call DMV, and a green citation told me my court date.
